Drag Queen Makeup Tips

After the success of RuPaul’s Drag Race, we are seeing more and more people in the UK experiment with drag looks, wanting to learn as much as possible about the extraordinary world of drag queen makeup.

Today, we take a look at the basic principles!

Never forget the primer

With drag makeup being so heavy, a good-quality primer is a must, ensuring your skin is well prepared for the layers of makeup to come. A good primer will also help with the application and ensure your makeup stays on for as long as possible.

Blend, blend, then blend some more

One thing all drag queens should look to avoid is a tanned face and a white neck. While queens will usually apply makeup that is a good few shades darker than their natural skin, blending down the neck is essential, ensuring the colour is the same on all skin that is on display.

Eyebrows for days

One distinctive feature of a drag queen is the eyebrows, with drag eyebrows being high, sharp and dark. In order to get that look, a quality, sharp eyebrow pencil will be required.

Bold lipliners

Eager to get that juicy lip look? If so, then be sure to gloss up to the back teeth! But, to get that strong lip outline that drag queens are famous for, be sure to go heavy on the lipliner. Going two shades darker than your lipstick is advised.

Set it or you’ll regret it!

It goes without saying that evolving into a fabulous drag queen takes time and a whole load of effort. This is why it is important that the effort pays off and drag makeup stays on point for hours on end. This can be achieved with a good helping of setting spray.

Need an MUA to do your makeup?

If so, search for the best in the business on Glamdeva.com. All you need to do is input dates, times and locations and our clever system will show you who is available, where and how much they charge.
